★ MEET OUR NEW ARTIST-IN-RESIDENCE ★
.
Felipe Lopez is a Colombian artist and professor living in Boston, US. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Arts and a master’s in Art Education from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia. He received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University.
Trained as a traditional painter and draftsman, Felipe explores subjects such as the nostalgia of images, the everyday life, depicting scenarios and human figures, and the structures of power around us through the images of monuments. His body of work combines traditional drawing as the main characteristic, with surfaces, and non-traditional means as a broader idea of figurative drawing.
He has served as a painting and drawing professor for the Continuing Education Program of the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, guest speaker and lecturer for undergraduate classes for several years in Bogotá, and as drawing instructor for the Continuing Education program at RISD Rhode Island School of Design. Felipe is the current Teaching Fellow in drawing at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University, and the Pratt Munson Painting and Drawing artist in residency.
.
We're so excited to welcome Felipe to campus, where he will be teaching Visualization/Representation and Life Study I. Additionally, he will be teaching in our Munson Community Arts program!
