Colette Bernard

Class of 2019

Colette Bernard ’19 earned her BFA in Fine Arts – Sculpture and Integrated Practices and used her skills to start her own thriving business. She created a series of 3D-printed hair claws to help people express themselves—first dental workers who enjoyed her wisdom tooth-shaped claw and now people from all industries. Bernard sells these designs, called Career Claws, online, as well as at her own gift shop, Cocodrie Collective, in Lafayette, La., where she occasionally transforms a downtown block into a bustling Cocodrie Art Market, showcasing local talent and fostering community. She also worked with the Children’s Museum of Acadiana in southern Louisiana to paint a giant I-Spy mural on a blank wall that allows passers-by to interact with her art, finding hidden images amongst a sea of faces she sketched while she lived in New York City as a student.

Jared Diaz

Jared Diaz

Class of 2014

Jared Diaz ’14, a second-generation Dominican artist born and based in New York City, began managing facilities at one of the largest hand-painted billboard companies in America within a year of graduating from Pratt Institute. They didn’t start their artistic career as a muralist, but found their way to it during the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020, feeling called to begin creating them as part of their civic duty. Diaz has contributed to the management and painting execution of more than 2,000 large-scale murals over their career, including the “Gathering in the Name of: One World Gathering” mural at Munson’s Genesee Street Studio, completed in July 2025.

Diaz is also the founder of nonprofit Open Air Projects, which promotes cultural equity through mural art. By March 2021, Diaz launched the Open Air Archive, which aims to preserve history normally located in the niche view of local archives and promote them on the stage of public art. After nine months of planning, community dialogues, and execution, the Open Air Archive manifested through the 1,500-square-foot mural-monument, HENRIETTA, located on the corner of 5th Ave. and Muhammad Ali Boulevard in Louisville, Ky.

Renata Dominguez

Renata Dominguez

Class of 2023

Renata Dominguez ’23 scored an internship at her dream agency, Landor Associates, as a graphic designer after graduating from Pratt Institute, and within one year, she was offered a full-time position. Dominguez grew up with parents in the marketing and design industries, so a career in branding feels natural to her. While a student, she was nominated by faculty for the opportunity to work on a real-world branding project for the À Dériva Architecture, Design, and Arts Festival in Portugal. She worked with Chair of Undergraduate Communications Design Meta Newhouse, Professor Ana Boavida from the University of Coimbra, and University of Coimbra alumnus Nuno Flórido to develop the full branding for the festival, which they then presented to the government of Penacova, Portugal. The festival took place as part of an ongoing partnership between Pratt Institute and the University of Coimbra “in which students and faculty from both schools will imagine creative solutions to questions that have global resonance.”
